About these terms

These terms apply to your use of emmapenman.com and to any private session, course, workshop, healing circle or gathering you book directly with me, Emma Penman. By using this website or booking with me, you agree to these terms, alongside my Privacy Policy. You can contact me at emmapenman@me.com. High Reiki courses booked through highreiki.co.uk, membership of The Sacred Temple at sacred-temple.uk and purchases from Sacred Earth at sacred-earth.uk are covered by the terms on those websites.

The nature of my work

My sessions and courses are spiritual and complementary practices, including energy healing, High Reiki, Transformational Bodywork, light codes and guided spiritual teaching. They are offered to support your wellbeing and spiritual growth. They are not medical, psychological or psychiatric treatment, and they are not a substitute for diagnosis, treatment or advice from your doctor or another qualified healthcare professional. I do not diagnose conditions, prescribe, or advise you to stop any treatment or medication. Experiences of energy work are personal and vary from person to person, so no particular outcome can be promised. Please continue to consult your GP or specialist about any health concern.

Your health and wellbeing

Before we work together, please tell me (or, for a child, their parent or guardian should tell me) about any health conditions, medication, pregnancy, recent injury or surgery, or mental health concerns that may be relevant, and let me know if anything changes. I may ask you to complete a consultation form. If you are under the care of a doctor, especially for a serious condition or mental health concern, please check with them before booking. Some people feel tired, emotional or light-headed after a session; this is usually short-lived, but please seek medical advice if anything concerns you. You are free to pause or stop a session or course at any time.

Who can book

High Reiki and Transformational Bodywork sessions are available for adults, and for children and young people under 18 with the consent of their parent or legal guardian. For anyone under 18, the parent or guardian makes the booking, completes the consultation form on the child’s behalf and gives their consent before the session. Children under 16 must have their parent or guardian present throughout the session, whether in person or online, and a parent or guardian is always welcome to stay with a young person aged 16 or 17. My courses and gatherings are for adults aged 18 and over, unless a course is described as suitable for younger people.

Private sessions take place mainly online. In-person sessions are available by arrangement only, at my discretion, and the details are shared once we have spoken. I may decline or end a booking where I feel the work is not right for you or would not be safe, or where behaviour is abusive, threatening or inappropriate, in which case any refund will be at my discretion. I will never decline on any discriminatory ground.

Bookings and payment

Prices are shown on this website, or given on enquiry, and are confirmed before you book. Private sessions are paid in full in advance. For Transformational Bodywork and other courses, a deposit secures your place, and the balance is paid as agreed when you book. Payments are made securely online through Stripe or PayPal, or by bank transfer. Your booking is confirmed once I have received payment and sent you confirmation by email. Any change in price will not affect a booking you have already paid for.

Your right to cancel

When you book online, by email or by phone, the Consumer Contracts Regulations give you 14 days from the date of booking to change your mind and receive a full refund, including any deposit. If you ask me to provide your session or course within those 14 days, you agree that the right to cancel ends once it has been fully provided, and that I may deduct the value of any part already provided if you cancel partway through.

Cancelling or rescheduling a session

After the 14-day period, private sessions can be rescheduled or cancelled with a full refund if you give me at least 24 hours' notice. With less than 24 hours' notice, or if you do not attend, the session fee may be kept, although I will always try to offer another time where I can. If you are late, the session may be shortened so that it still ends on time.

Cancelling a course

After the 14-day period, if you cancel more than 28 days before a course begins, I will refund what you have paid apart from the deposit, or transfer your full payment to a future course. If you cancel within 28 days of the start date, I am usually unable to offer a refund, as your place will have been held for you, but I may be able to transfer your booking to a future course or to another person. For courses that run over several dates, missed sessions are not refunded, but I will offer catch-up support wherever possible.

If I need to cancel

If I have to cancel or reschedule a session, course or gathering because of illness or circumstances beyond my control, I will let you know as soon as possible and offer you a new date or a full refund of anything you have paid for it.

Online sessions and gatherings

For online sessions and gatherings, please make sure you have a reliable internet connection and a quiet, private space. If a connection problem on my side interrupts a session, I will offer you extra time or another session. Please do not record any session or gathering without my agreement, and do not share recordings or materials I provide with anyone else.

Group courses and confidentiality

Group courses and circles are sacred, respectful spaces. Please honour the privacy of everyone present by keeping what others share confidential. I may ask anyone whose behaviour disrupts or endangers the group to leave, and any refund in that case will be at my discretion. Anything you share with me privately is kept confidential, except where I am required by law to share it or where there is a serious risk to your safety or someone else's.

Course materials and teachings

All course materials, manuals, recordings, attunement practices, images and written content on this website are my intellectual property, or used with permission, and are protected by copyright. They are for your own personal use and study. Please do not copy, share, sell or teach from them without my written permission. Completing a course does not in itself give permission to teach it; teacher levels are awarded separately and are shown on your certificate.

Using this website

The information on this website is for general interest and is not medical advice. I take care to keep it accurate and up to date, but I cannot guarantee that it is always complete or current, so please check details such as prices and dates with me when you book. Please use the website lawfully and do not try to interfere with how it works. This website links to other websites, including my own sister sites; I am not responsible for the content or privacy practices of websites I do not run.

My responsibility to you

I will always provide my services with reasonable care and skill. I am not responsible for any loss that was not reasonably foreseeable when you booked, or for indirect business losses. My total responsibility to you for any session or course will not exceed the amount you paid for it. Nothing in these terms limits my liability for death or personal injury caused by my negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law, and your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are not affected.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with any part of your experience, please tell me as soon as possible by email. I will acknowledge your message within five working days and aim to reply fully within 21 days. I always want to put things right where I can.

Changes and governing law

I may update these terms from time to time; the version on this page when you book will apply to your booking. If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest will still apply. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales.
